It's a slow burn of a film with a lot worth talking about, from amazing visuals to the unique presentation of horror elements to why it fits in our Co-Contributor Canon. Let's all take a break and not push hard enough to find out what folks are putting in the meat pies.

Thank you for the great podcast. Amy's comments brought a different perspective for the main character that I didn't notice.

I really enjoyed this movie, too. It seemed like a good trend in recent horror films where the horror aspect is used to reflect character development, or to emphasize some bigger statement the writers were trying to make, rather than just be for grotesqueness sake.

Big time spoilers here. The blood rituals and other sympathetic magic used by the cult I thought was, for the most part, handled well in representing what some ancient cultures practiced. However, I thought the ending pushed too much of this into the single space, and seemed to be there just to raise the shock and horror factor. Especially the blood eagle, which was never used for anything but torture. It seemed to detract from the main focus of the story. But, overall, that's a comparatively minor issue.
