Some More Song Selections for Christmas Eve

Yesterday we put forth some songs for your melancholy Christmas Eve.  After scrolling my Google Play, I found a few more to consider.  Maybe with a little less to discuss.

The Walkmen: No Christmas While I'm Talking

No one is going to think this is a new Christmas standard, but it's a good way to get into the evening.

Everything But The Girl:  25th of December

Underrated song on an album that seems to have gotten forgotten in the past 20 years.

Elvis Costello & Nick Lowe: What's So Funny 'Bout Peace, Love and Understanding?

Maybe not a traditional Christmas song, but Colbert has made it relevant to the season.  And why not include a version with original songsmith Nick Lowe and the man who made it a pop standard?

Tom Waits: Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis

It seems bad form to ignore this tune, given our theme.

Townes Van Zandt: Snowin' on Raton

Here's where I pull my Texas card and insist we listen to some Townes Van Zandt.

Willie Nelson & Don Walser: Silent Night

Also a Texas Christmas standard.  Nelson himself wrote Pretty Paper, but I like how he covers Silent Night.  Walser is an undiscussed gem of the Texas music scene, and I'm sad the kids have never really heard him, because to see him live was a hell of thing.
