The secret to enjoying movies, I have discovered in my mid life, is to not raise your expectations. In this regard you may currently be lowering my enjoyment of this movie.
I am past the point in my life where I believe "the critics don't know what they are talking about", and my first insight into this came with "The Phantom Menace". And, perhaps the greatest reflection of this problem for a big-budget crowd-pleaser was when the reviews trickled in for "Man of Steel" which never crested the mid-50's on the Tomato Meter.
All I know now is that I will not be walking into a movie where I'll regret having paid the money to show up. I'm level-setting at "this isn't supposed to be terrible", and recognizing that after the Prequels, there could be some inflation to these reviews. But I'm also not reading them. I'd like a little surprise left in my life.
