Yes, it looks ridiculous, but it's a summer movie, y'all.

Wait - this is a del Toro film? It's Kaiju and giant robots fighting with kung fu? GLaDOS-like computer voices? Tom Cruise isn't in it?
I don't care what rating this is. My daughter's seeing it with me.
Correction - my wife just informed me that rating will matter.
I just had flashbacks of Saturday mornings when I was about 4 years old, sitting on the carpet in front of the TV, watching Godzilla and Ultraman while eating PB&J and pretzels and drinking chocolate milk. I don't care how dumb this movie ultimately is, and I don't care how much people bitch about movies that make us nostalgic. This one hit the right chord, and at least in the trailer, this conjured up the same sense of "gee whiz" that the dudes in rubber suits used to create in little kid me.
Yup, I will be throwing my money at this movie as well. What everyone else said plus Idris Elba!
